Cult of Second Chance

A forest-dwelling doomsday cult that worships the zombie plague as a divine gift and treats the undead as children of God.

Who they are

The Cult of Second Chance is one of the three factions you can align with in Urban Strife, and the strangest of the three. Founded by a former television salesman who now calls himself only "The Father", the cult preaches that the pandemic was not an apocalypse but a second chance handed down from above. Its followers treat the undead as children of God, and the group makes its home deep in the forest inside a converted 1960s reform school. Members present themselves as adepts of non-violence, but the game is clear that this calm hides teeth: their monks are described as able to kill a man with a stare, and their camp is defended in force.

Backing the cult

Siding with the Cult of Second Chance commits your shelter to their cause. Doing so unlocks cult blueprints and lets a cult representative settle near Urban Shelter, converting an old office into a prayer room fitted with hydroponics for growing calming herbs and nourishing mushrooms. The alliance also opens access to unique materials and cult-affiliated survivors you cannot reach any other way. Because the three factions hate one another, committing four ally votes to the cult turns the Shady Lady Bikers and the Rogue Army Garrison against you, so the choice reshapes the rest of your campaign.

Combat and companions

The cult fields cloaked crossbow fighters who fan out around cover, flank through buildings and lay down crossing fire, so a raid on their territory is a real tactical fight rather than a formality. The recruitable survivor most closely tied to the cult is Brother Joseph, found at Adams Villa once you clear the zombies and get on good terms with the church. The cult's wider story also touches the Saint family, survivors said to be able to sing to the undead and steer them. Because faction standing gates who will join you, keeping the cult friendly matters if you want their people in your militia.
